What’s making success feel so demanding?

You’re capable. You care. You get things done. But some of the ways you make it all work may be asking too much of you.

Explore the patterns beneath your workday—and find one small place to do things differently.

Thoughtful foundations. Honest limits.

The research behind this self-coaching tool.

This is an original, research-informed coaching tool. It is not a validated psychological test or a diagnosis. Its seven categories are a coaching framework, not a scientifically established list of the most common patterns in women entrepreneurs. These patterns are not unique to women.

The studies below inform the concepts. They do not validate our questions, scoring rules, personalized explanations, or suggested experiments. Several studied students or specific cultural settings; their findings cannot simply be generalized to every entrepreneur.

How this self-coaching tool uses your answers

There are four original questions per pattern and three separate questions about circumstances. Responses run from never (0) to almost always (4). “Not applicable / not sure” is excluded, not counted as zero. A pattern needs at least three applicable answers to receive a summary.

We average each pattern’s applicable answers. Areas averaging at least “sometimes” (2) are eligible for highlighting. We show up to two leading areas, plus any others within one-third of an answer point of the second area so close results are not forced into two labels. If no area meets that rule, we say so. Areas without enough answers remain unclassified. Context answers of “often” or “almost always” prompt a closer look at workload and support; they do not increase any pattern score.

These are editorial rules for organizing a conversation, not clinical thresholds, established reliability estimates, or comparisons with a population. Small answer changes can change the order. A higher score does not prove an underlying motive, and an unhighlighted pattern may still matter to you. The practices are optional coaching experiments, not tested treatments.

Your answers & your choice.

Your answers are processed in your browser. When browser storage is available, they are kept in this tab’s session so you can go back or refresh. We do not send your individual answers with the report form. Use “Clear my answers & start again” to remove this self-coaching tool’s saved answers.

If you request an email copy, your email address, optional name, generated report, delivery permission, and separate marketing preference are sent through FormSubmit to Neill Williams Coaching at neill@neillwilliams.com. FormSubmit handles delivery and its spam check. Your report includes the patterns and circumstance summaries shown on this page. Only request a copy if you are comfortable sharing that information.

Requesting your report does not sign you up for ongoing emails. You can opt in separately.
